Tunnel Shaft – QLD Australia, 2013

 Duration – 2 days

 Access - Cherry picker

Integrity assessment of 32mm diameter 22m long tie-rods supporting sheet pile walls along a tunnel shaft. Following the failure of 3 tie-rods, testing was carried out to determine the integrity of the remaining 167 tie-r0ds. The tie-rods are anchored to a concrete deadman providing the sheet pile wall with support to accommodate loading.

RokTel testing identified where the risk of further failure was greatest allowing remedial work to be carried out by the contractor.

The chart at the top of the page  is the data collected from one of the tested tie rods and identified as defective. The analysis proved conclusive as subsequent failure of the tie rod occurred.
